National Water-Quality Assessment (NAWQA) Program - South Platte River Basin
Changes in Groundwater Quality in Corn Crop Areas
Map of Study Location
Determine long-term changes in the quality of groundwater in the South Platte alluvial (groundwater adjacent to the stream)
aquifer underlying corn crop areas.
Determine how groundwater quality has changed
in response to changes in agricultural management practices.
Resample 30 wells for targeted physical
and chemical data.
Initial sampling occurred in the summer of 1994.
The second round of sampling occurred in the summer of 2002.
- Targeted Physical and Chemical Data:
Physical parameters, nutrients, pesticides, organic
carbon, trace elements, and major ions.
