BACKGROUND:

Rapid growth and development in Clear Creek County have made it necessary for planners to identify wetlands in the county. Current regulations require that when a wetland is destroyed by development, an equal area of wetland must be created to replace the lost wetland. An inventory of wetlands in the Upper Clear Creek Watershed is needed is needed to meet the objective.

OBJECTIVES:

1. To produce a map of the Upper Clear Creek Watershed that shows the current locations of wetlands using global positioning system (GPS) technology.
2. To identify wetland types.
3. To identify areas suitable for artificial wetland construction.
