Ground-Water Quality in Areas of Recent Urbanization

  • Objectives:
      Determine the quality of shallow ground water underlying areas of recent residential and commercial development.

  • Approach:
      Install and collect samples from 30 wells randomly located in representative urbanized areas south of Denver.

  • Timing:
      Site selection and well installation occurred in 2003. Sampling of targeted physical and chemical data occurred in 2003.

  • Targeted Physical and Chemical Data:
      Physical parameters, nutrients, pesticides, organic carbon, trace elements,
      major ions, radon, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), ground-water age.
