Changes in Ground-Water Quality in Corn Crop Areas
Map of Study Location
- Objectives:
Determine long-term changes in the quality of ground
water in the South Platte alluvial (ground water adjacent to the stream)
aquifer underlying corn crop areas.
Determine how ground-water quality has changed
in response to changes in agricultural management practices.
- Approach:
Resample 30 wells for targeted physical
and chemical data.
- Timing:
Initial sampling occurred in the summer of 1994.
The second round of sampling occurred in the summer of 2002.
- Targeted Physical and Chemical Data:
Physical parameters, nutrients, pesticides, organic
carbon, trace elements, and major ions.
