Characteristics of Community Ground-Water Supplies
Map of Study Location
- Objectives:
Evaluate the quality of drinking water from ground
water in areas where ground water is a significant source of drinking
water.
- Approach:
Samples will be collected from several high-producing
community water supply wells. Selected wells are in populated areas
where ground water is vulnerable to possible contamination from anthropogenic
or natural sources.
- Timing:
Sampling of the wells took place between February
and October 2003.
- Targeted Constituents:
Dissolved organic carbon, pesticides, pharmaceutical
compounds, fuel oxygenates, volatile organic compounds, and e. coli
bacteria.
