Source-water Quality Assessment: Plio-pleistocene deposits - northern High Plains (cont.)

Objectives:

Approach:

Sample 8 of the highest-pumping wells in and around the city of York, Nebraska (these wells are meant to be nested within the large-area portion of the TANC study)
Sample another 7 wells in the largest populated areas within the Plio-pleistocene deposits of the northern High Plains aquifer (1 highest-pumping well in each community).

Timing:

Targeted Constituents:

Physical parameters, major ions, nutrients, trace elements, radon, pesticides, DOC, volatile organic compounds (VOC's), bacteria, and coliphage virus.
** A national determination of which Source-Water Quality Assessment (SWQA) study sites will be resampled in FY04 is based on the results from the previous (FY03) sampling that is now being analyzed. Therefore, we will not know if the High Plains SQWA study will be selected until after data analysis is completed. Expect to know if selected for resampling by February 2004.
