Source-water Quality Assessment (SWQA): Plio-pleistocene deposits - northern High Plains
Objectives:
To provide a broad-scale assessment of the ground-water quality in the Plio-pleistocene
deposits of the northern High Plains aquifer that are used for drinking-water
supplies (see map).
Approach:
Sample 8 of the highest-pumping wells in and around the city of York,
Nebraska (these wells are meant to be nested within the large-area portion
of the TANC study)
Sample another 7 wells in the largest populated areas within the Plio-pleistocene
deposits of the northern High Plains aquifer (1 highest-pumping well in
each community).
Timing:
Sampling done October through January, 2001-2002..
Targeted Constituents:
Physical parameters, major ions, nutrients, trace elements, radon, pesticides,
DOC, volatile organic compounds (VOC's), bacteria, and coliphage virus.
